NOTE The Navigate based on responses feature can only be set when creating or editing a To-do from the Dashboard.
1. Understand the Feature
The Navigate based on responses feature lets you create a custom task flow within a To-do, allowing you to adapt the flow based on the assignee’s answers.
For each question, you can set the next question to display depending on the assignee’s response.
This ensures that unnecessary questions are skipped and only relevant ones are shown.
If Navigate based on responses is not enabled for a question, answering or skipping it will simply lead to the next question in order.
Sections are informational items that do not require answers, so Navigate based on responses cannot be applied directly to them. However, other questions can be set to lead to a section based on an answer.
2. Set Up the Feature
Before enabling Navigate based on responses, create the questions first. See the related guide for how to create questions and their types. ▸ Create Templates >
Click the Navigate based on responses toggle at the bottom right.
Click the toggle for the Navigation rule to enable it.
Click Apply at the bottom right to save.
The Navigate based on responses feature can be set in two ways:
▪︎ Navigate based on a selected answer
This method applies to Multiple Choice and Dropdown (single-select) components.
For each possible answer, you can set a different Navigation rule:
Go to the next question: If the selected answer is chosen, the flow moves to the next question in order. If it’s the last question, it will Submit and Finish.
Question n: Directly jumps to a specific question. All questions between the current and target question will be skipped.
Submit and Finish: Ends the task immediately without showing further questions.
You can also set a rule for when the assignee skips the question (if it’s not a required question).
▪︎ Navigate based on whether a question is answered
This method applies to all other components except Multiple Choice and single-select Dropdown.
For answered or skipped questions, you can set the Navigation rule as follows:
Go to the next question: Moves directly to the next question. If it’s the last question, it will Submit and Finish.
Question n: Jumps to a specific question, skipping all in-between questions.
Submit and Finish: Ends the task immediately without showing further questions.
You can also set a rule for skipped questions (if they are not required).
